For most people this is within a few days, with vision reaching its maximum improvement after approximately one month.
Will my eye hurt after the operation?
Your operated eye may feel slightly sore after surgery, sensitive to light, and you may notice a gritty sensation. Most patients experience no major discomfort.
What follow-up appointments are needed after cataract surgery?
The first check-up is on day 2 after surgery, followed by appointments at one week and four weeks post-operatively, unless your surgeon or attending doctor advises otherwise.
Will I still need glasses after the operation?
Most patients see well in the distance without glasses, but will need new reading glasses, which are prescribed one month after surgery.
How long does cataract surgery take?
The operation usually takes 10–20 minutes. The majority of patients enjoy long-lasting improved vision.
When can I return to work after cataract surgery?
You may return to physical work 4 weeks after surgery. If you work at a computer, you may return as soon as you feel comfortable.
